Memorial Vet Clinic, Dr. Anderson Dr. Sharon Anderson, Veterinarian & Owner of MVC

Dr. Sharon Anderson is a South Texas farmer’s daughter from Sebastian, Texas who has been a Houston resident since 1984. She graduated from Texas A&M University undergrad in 1977 with a Bachelors in Biomedical Science, then earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. She began her career in cattle reproduction and large animal embryo transfer in the early 80’s.

Dr. Anderson’s hidden talent is her ability to rope off a horse and catch a calf! Outside of the office, she loves to dig in the garden, is an avid golfer, saltwater fisher person, and likes to shoot clays. She warmly says, “Opening MVC in 2013 took a huge leap of faith. It’s my pride and joy after working for others for so many years. I’m excited about the great team that coming together now.

“I always wanted to be a Veterinarian; I love what I do – I love the clients and cherish their pets like my own.”

Memorial Vet Clinic, Dr. Morgan Baskin, Veterinarian Dr. Morgan Baskin, Veterinarian

Morgan Baskin, B.S., M.Z.S., D.V.M., is originally from Plano, Texas and has been a resident of Houston for the past 13 years. She has been a Veterinarian for 13 years with 2 years in emergency medicine and 11 years in private practice. She earned her Bachelor of Science, Master of Zoological Studies, and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University.

Her special interests are in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Baskin knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian since she was 5 years old. We think Dr. Baskin is amazing with our clients and she’s greatly appreciated.

Dr.Romero-head-shot Dr. Mason Romero, Veterinarian

Dr. Romero is originally from Port Neches, Texas. He has lived in Houston since 2012 with his wife, Jamie, and their long haired dachshund, Maggie, and cat, Meathead. Dr. Romero has been in the veterinary field since 2005 working as a technician prior to starting vet school in 2008 and has been a practicing Veterinarian since 2012.

He earned his Bachelors in Animal Science from LSU in 2007 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2010 graduating with honors. Dr. Romero is an avid outdoors man who enjoys hunting, fishing, shoot sports, and fitness. He’s also a die-hard LSU Tigers football and baseball fan.

Memorial Vet Clinic, Alexis Wendt, Administrator Alexis Wendt, Administrator

Alexis Wendt is a native Houstonian from the Memorial area. She graduated from Memorial High School, earned her Bachelors of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in Marketing and General Business, and recently earned her certificate in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Alexis is Dr. Anderson’s daughter and has helped with the business side of the clinic since opening in 2013. She’s observed the veterinary industry her whole life but has only worked in it for 2-3 years.

She currently is the VP of Public Relations for her local Toastmaster’s club, a member of the Junior League Houston, an athlete, and a perpetual ideas woman. Alexis has a great sense of fashion and always wears the best outfits. Even on her “off” days she looks fabulous!

Memorial Vet Clinic, Rainy Alcaraz, Veterinary Technician Rainy Tran, Lead Veterinary Technician

Rainy Alcaraz is a native Houstonian hailing from the Bellaire area. She has been a Veterinary Technician for 6 years. She holds an Associates in Science.

Rainy is obsessed with King Charles Spaniels, Hello Kitty, and video games. She’s a gem in our clinic and an excellent technician.

Memorial Vet Clinic, Sonya Pursell, Client Services Representative Sonya Pursell, Client Services Representative

Sonya Pursell is originally from Guam but has been a Houston resident for 20 years. After trekking the jungles of Guam, she has been in the veterinary field for 20 years starting as a kennel assistant, moving to vet technician, to client services.

She is passionate about educating and connecting with clients. She has an Associates in Science from Lone Star Community College. Sonya loves her family of 3 kids and cooking. Sonya is our “class clown” of the clinic and we all enjoy her contagious enthusiasm.

What Sonya loves most about MVC, “My wonderful work family and our main goal of teamwork.”

 

Memorial Vet Clinic, Gary Jones, Veterinary Technician

Gary Jones, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Gary Jones is originally from Waller, Texas and has lived back and forth between Waller and Houston his entire life. He volunteered at the SPCA during school then continued to work there for 3 years. He did his externship at a rehabilitation clinic then gave ER medicine a try for 3 years. Gary graduated in 2010, with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from the Vet Tech Institute of Houston.

Gary loves horses so much that he owns two himself, he’s a trail rider, his favorite color is magenta pink, and has appeared on his favorite TV show Animal Cops Houston several times. Keep an eye out for Gary! We love Gary’s positive demeanor and excellent work ethic. He keeps our team laughing through the day.

Memorial Vet Clinic, Christie Jackson, Veterinary Technician Christie Jackson, Veterinary Technician

Christie Jackson is our newest addition to the clinic. She was born and raised in our beautiful city. Christie had a childhood dream of becoming a Veterinarian. She attended the Vet Tech Institute of Houston when her daughter turned 2 months old.

She graduated in 2010 with an Associates of Applied Science, working in the field for the past 7 years. Christie’s witty personality keeps us on our toes and laughing.

Memorial Vet Clinic, Debbie Ybarra, Certified Veterinary Assistant Debbie Ybarra, Certified Veterinary Assistant

Debbie Ybarra is originally from Texas City and has living in Houston for the past 18 years. She has been in the veterinary field since her arrival to Houston. She previously worked at the Galveston Animal Shelter prior to relocating to Houston.

She is a Certified Level I Vet Tech Assistant. Debbie loves meeting new people. Debbie’s contagious laughter is heard through our clinic walls in a great way.

Shannon Gerber hails from Minnesota but has been in Houston for about 10 years now. She’s been in the veterinary field for 15 years starting off at a small animal clinic in Minnesota, then went to a specialty clinic and low cost vaccine clinic in Houston. She took a few years off to pursue pet sitting. Shannon is thoroughly enjoying being back in the clinic setting.

Shannon earned an Associates of Animal Science in Veterinary Technology from the Minnesota School of Business. She is a mother of 3 human babies and 5 fur babies (3 cats and 2 dogs), all of which are rescues. Shannon goes above and beyond to make the patients feel comfortable.

Memorial Vet Clinic, Sarah Barrios, Veterinary Assistant Sarah Barrios, Veterinary Assistant

Sarah Barrios was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and has recently relocated to Houston 9 months ago. She is a high school graduate, and has previously worked in doggie day care and as a pet sitter. Sarah has been a part of the MVC since August 2016.

Sarah absolutely loves animals, has always been surrounded by animals, and has owned cats since she was 8 years old. She adores her cat “Peanut”. Her smiling face is a joy in the clinic.

Memorial Vet Clinic, Desman Sandoval, Kennel Technician Desman Sandoval, Kennel Technician

Desman Sandoval was born in Honduras and has been living in Houston for 7 years. He started his veterinary career with MVC about 1 ½ years ago. Desman like to work with animals, has two Chihuahuas, and one big dog.

Desman makes bath time so enjoyable by singing to the dogs and gives them all a special spa day.

“Working at MVC has taught me how to take care of dogs and cats. I’ve also learned how to communicate with others in English a bit more.” We think his written English is excellent!”
